Business Management @BCTHS
The Business Management Program is preparing students for today’s ever changing business world. Students will learn the functions of daily business activities along with procedures and technology related to business management, entrepreneurship, accounting and finance, office technologies along with medical billing and coding, paralegal studies and those all important professional and interpersonal skills.
Students will acquire skills needed for any business or office environment by engaging in high-level administrative support while conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions. The students will be operating a variety of office equipment such as fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, video conferencing and telephone systems. Students will learn basic accounting, which includes recording transactions in a general ledger, analyzing financial statements, adjusting and closing entries, and preparing payroll records. Software programs that students will be immersed in include Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite.
Students will be encouraged to test for their Microsoft Office certification, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certification, and their Customer Service certification from the National Retail Federation.
Students enrolled in this program will get hands on experience by managing and maintaining our student run coffee shop, The Daily Grind. Students will also be offered an opportunity to work in the Student Activities Office processing payments for dances, fundraisers, proms, and other school related activities. Our students will also be able to serve their fellow students enrolled in our other technical programs by offering Career Consultation Services. Business Management students have ample chances to be involved in numerous school events throughout the year such as Field Day, the Prom Fashion Expo, Blood Drives, 9th grade Student Activities Fair, and our SkillsUSA rally. They will be encouraged to participate in competitions via DECA, FBLA, and SkillsUSA.
